The only real negative for me was that there is not enough shade at the beach/pool. Service and bar was great! It's a low key resort which I'm sure will pick up as COVID dissipates. There are large iguanas roaming around so be prepared. We had no seaweed in fact the water was crystal clear and the sand so clean! Loved seeing the hills surrounding the hotel makes for beautiful scenery. The pool is gorgeous and so is the beach. The Creole buffet was not spicy enough to do homage to that cuisine. However, the grounds are really pretty, Is the food terrific? It is very good in the featured restaurants - not so much at the buffet. After reading some of the negative reviews, I was hesitant to say the least. We were incredibly grateful for the clean, beautiful surroundings of Secrets, St Martin and for the warm and welcoming response from the staff. This vacation was our first since the Covid pandemic. We did not experience any negative interactions with staff - everyone with whom we came in contact was eager to help and friendly. We were very pleased with the fresh fruit, variety of veggie selections, and the fish dishes!! Michelle at the front desk was very helpful with our Covid tests as was Kamey from Careaway Health. Bruno, the chef, was hard working and eager to have folks enjoy the great food. Sunshine at the pool/towel shed was a great storyteller and a kind soul. At the Market Cafe, we had super service from Evelyn, Charmen, Ivan, and Shemer to name a few. Avril did a great job of caring for our room and keeping items we liked well stocked. There was no loud noise at night for which my husband was very grateful! We were impressed that the manager was seen in and around the resort (not always in an office) - we even got directions to the spa from him on our arrival day. Our room on the 3rd floor had a partial view of the bay which we greatly enjoyed. Our experience and time at Secrets, however, was extremely positive! We had beautiful weather, great meals, and exceptional care from staff at Secrets. We read some of the negative reviews and were concerned about our trip. My husband and I recently spent a week at Secrets, St Martin. The minor tweak was that the pool was chilly so a little heat would massively help but certainly nothing to complain about! Having “get yourself drink stations” would have easily solved that problem. In the restaurants they hadn’t quite got the service structure right, so you waited a while and drinks etc got forgotten but the staff were working so hard we could forgive that. The buffet was great, so great infact that we were sad on the evenings they switched the buffet out for restaurants but only because it limited the choice for 2 fussy eaters. There is everything you need and the staff are wonderful and helpful. Everything is very clean, the beach is spotless and gorgeous and the pool (whilst chilly) was beautiful and clean. There was absolutely no reason to be! The location, whilst away from the main attractions (the island is tiny so that’s relative) is absolutely stunning and the views from the pool are out of this world. We arrived at very end of March and having read the reviews was a little nervous.
