Kathryn Parent is the program coordinator at Wachusett Reservoir for the DCR Division of Water Supply Protection and works to protect the watershed and drinking water. Registration is required and begins July 24. They will also make a rabbit’s nest nature collage. After, children will participate in seeing how water forms on different types of feathers and leaves. Listen to the story “Rabbits and Raindrops” by Jim Arnosky and “When Rain Falls” by Melissa Stewart. Finally, do the same thing on both sides of the tail to thin it out.It’s a Rainy Day! Learn About the Water Cycle with DCRĬhildren aged 4-7 and their families are invited to join Kathryn Parent to learn all about the water cycle and learn about what animals do when it rains on Monday, July 31 at 10 a.m. Fold up the edges on each side to make the wings. Then, fold the tail point down at an angle and unfold. Fold the side point one more time, unfold it, and do one more inside fold to make the beak. Fold the side point, unfold it, and do another inside fold. Next, fold down the top point, unfold it, and do an inside fold. Fold the creases on the inside half of the model. With the long side at the top, fold the right point down on an angle and then back up again. Fold the point on each flap down, then fold the model in half lengthwise. Now, pinch each creased corner, bring both corners together in the middle, and fold the flaps up. Rotate the model 180 degrees and repeat with the right and left corners. Rotate it so it looks like a diamond, then fold the right and left corners down to the middle crease. To fold an origami parrot, first fold a square piece of paper in half diagonally and unfold it.
